un peu d'inspiration

I go through stages of inspirational obsessions, so might as well help myself out by putting them up here. Enjoy!

lotta cheap layers!

I was surfing the web just now and stumbled upon Nylon Mag’s website only to find an article that just made me go, “well, duh! How come I never realized this before!” Such a simple concept but this article discusses the idea of layering clothing for a chic look. But more seriously, cheap clothing!

I come from a mother who wears a solid tshirt and solid pants ever day. Throwing on a necklace or adding an also-solid cartigan is her idea of heavy layering. I mean, she does stress quality and fit as her reason for buying such articles of clothing, but meh, I like some of my not-so-great-quality clothes. So, to me, this concept is something I never really gave much thought to.

I’m intrigued by how the images that they attach to the article are built out of the drab stuff I have in my closet. Like, literally, I own pretty much all those same sweaters and tshirts. It’s like, oh heres a sweater, and there’s a sweater. Let’s wear them at the same time and it’ll look awesome! And it does! And because of the layering, you don’t focus on the crappy quality of each individual piece. AND, you look like you are more fashion forward because you look like you thought about what pieces should go together. Like there was intention behind each layer. I love that! Hell yeah am I wearing a few more layers tomorrow than usual! Even in the 90s in Boston? YES!
