Fooling around with some imagery from my grandmother’s old china. The other day I was having a hard time figuring out what to do next with my embroidery. I have been doing a lot of silly mustaches and was starting to feel like I was selling out, not doing what I am naturally inclined to do. Abstraction is one of my natural inclinations, and I have done a lot of that with my little triangle patterns in my embroidery. I felt like it was a good time to take it to the other side of the spectrum and work from my inspirations directly.
And so, looking around my immediate surroundings (my kitchen, where I do most of my web-surfing and craft blogging), I came across some of my grandmother’s old china plates. With it’s interesting colors and it’s whimsical flower motif, i decided, “heck! that’s what i’m going to do!” …. and so I did? Yes, oh, yes I did. It was a fun little experiment. I may do something like that again. OH! Maybe a short collar necklace with lots of small versions of this motif! OR a new motif and a similar shaped pendant! SO many possibilities!
